September 19- 20: Annual City Wide Yard Sale

September 20: Literacy Alive 5K  

Kappa Delta Pi’s “Literacy Alive” 5K Fun Run & Family Walk will be held Saturday, September 20th at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for kids. Check in is 7:45am at the Bell Tower, run begins at 8am. Registration forms are available on the board outside room 308 in the Math-Science Building at UAFS. For more information, call 788-7916.

September 20: Free Clothing Giveaway 

Cavanaugh Church, 2825 Grinnell Avenue in Fort Smith will host a free clothing giveaway, Saturday, September 20th  7:30am – 1pm. This event is open to all. They are currently accepting baby clothes and items. For more information call 646-2806.

September 20: Celebration in the Park 

September is National Recovery Month and Western Arkansas Counseling & Guidance Center wants to invite those in recovery, their families and anyone who wants to celebrate, to “Celebration in the Park”, Saturday, September 20th 4-8pm at 3111 S. 70th Street in Fort Smith. September 22-26: Banned Books Week VBPL 

The Van Buren Library, 1409 Main Street, will celebrate the freedom to read with daily activities September 22 – 26 at 4pm. Monday, make your own comic book; Tuesday, comic themed buttons; Wednesday, comic book swap; Thursday, comic book pop art exhibit. Friday, enjoy a movie and free popcorn at 6pm. September 21:  Max Lucado

First Presbyterian Church, 116 N 12th Street. in Fort Smith, will host Max Lucado as part of the King Speakers Series, Sunday, September 21st at 10:00 am &  4pm. This event is free and open to all.  For more information call 783-8919.

September 27:  Paint Downtown Pink 5K Run

Western Arkansas Runners will host this year’s “Paint Downtown Pink 5K”, Saturday, September 27th beginning at 8:30 am at the Glass Pavilion, 100 North B St. This race is a chip timed 5k run/walk through downtown Fort Smith benefiting the Susan G. September 27:  BPW Barn Sale

The 46th annual BPW Barn Sale will be held Saturday, September 27th in Camden, Arkansas, from 9 am-5 pm (Oakland St. & Monticello St.) Browse over 180 unique vendors and artists where all crafts are original and handmade. From wooden pieces, ceramics, paintings, clothing, jewelry, stained glass, toys, and much more. There will also be food and musical entertainment throughout the day. October 24-25:  Women’s Conference

Miracle Power Tabernacle, 1106 North 34th Street in Fort Smith will host their 2nd annual women’s conference October 24-25.  Speakers include Millie Miller from Hobbs, New Mexico, Susan Means from Fort Smith and Melissa Turman-Griffin from Searcy, Arkansas.  Service times are Friday 7 pm, Saturday 10 am and 2 pm.  Lunch will be provided.  For more information or to register for the conference, please call Diane at (479) 739-1817,  This is a free conference.
